Moving Beyond 'Collaboration Fright'
Dan Woods has an illuminating article on Forbes.com this week that advances the notion that some of us may experience "collaboration fright" when it comes to communicating our thoughts and ideas to an audience beyond our regular "safe" networks.
In the article, Woods uses the positive example set by the fictional company presented in the Mesh Collaboration book to illustrate that using the widest possible network to advance ideas is a much better practice than simply relying on the network you know.
Using the widest network possible, as the authors of the book argue, would be considered "strong collaboration," while just relying on the network you know would be "weak collaboration."
Woods concludes his article by presenting a game plan for readers interested in moving beyond safe collaboration to utilizing all the tools available in the current Web 2.0/social networking environment. It's an interesting read.
