International Research Forum 2008
We are in the process of creating a book about the 2008 International Research Forum, an annual thought-leadership conference hosted by SAP in Germany that is now in its third year. Please see International Research Forum 2007 and International Research Forum 2006 for information on the books for the previous years. You may also go to the official book site which includes links for free PDF files of the previous years' books (click here for International Research Forum 2006 or here for International Research Forum 2007).
This year's forum covered the following topics:
- Web-Based Service Industry
- Infrastructure for Enterprise SOA 2.0
- Potential Killer Applications
- Semantic Service Discovery
To date, we have developed drafts of the chapters based on transcripts from the Forum. We are now in the process of contacting people -- sometimes participants from the Forum, to expand on their ideas –- sometimes outside sources, to comment on and develop the ideas discussed at the 2008 International Research Forum. We then continue to work with Lutz Heuser and Claudia Alsdorf from SAP and Dan Woods and his team from Evolved Media, to continue to write and develop the chapters. When the chapters are in review form, they will be sent for review to participants and outside sources, whom we have interviewed, for comments and adjustments to the text. We then take all the review input and create the book in its final form.
In past years, we have enjoyed the participation of many experts from a variety of fields, including:
- Andrew McAfee, Harvard Business School
- Dion Hinchcliffe, Hinchcliffe & Company
- Philip Nelson, thefind.com
- John Seely Brown, Center for Edge Innovation
- Eric von Hippel, MIT
- Navi Radjou, Forrester
- Michael Schrage, MIT
- Tim O'Reilly, O'Reilly Media
